Preserving Intangible Heritage: Kathak

Kathak is one of the major forms of Indian Classical Dance. Its origin is attributed to the traveling bards in ancient northern India known as Kathakar ("storyteller"), who communicated stories from the Hindu epics and mythology through dance, songs and music. Kathak dancers tell various stories utilizing hand movements and expansive footwork, their body

movements and flexibility as well as their facial expressions - often with a strong musical beat.

Kathak is one of five dance forms featured in Divine Expressions: A VR Anthology of Classical Indian Dances. It will feature dancers from Bhaskar's Arts Academy, a leading Singapore-based Indian classical dance, music and theatre company.
